Today Eli got to bring a vegetable to school and he was excited! Everyone in the class was asked to bring something, so they could make vegetable soup. How fun! I was not quite prepared... thought I had something in the fridge he could take. Turns out I did not, so we got to stop at the store before he went to school. He got to pick what he wanted, which was fun, and you'll never guess what he picked... green beans! Wouldn't have been my first choice, but he loves them! We got the fresh ones, so they could cut them up in class. Unfortunately, since I wasn't prepared with the vegetable at home I was not able to get a picture of him with this yummy green beans! After school I asked him if he liked the soup and he said he didn't. I asked if he ate the green beans. He said he only had one green bean in his bowl and didn't eat, because he didn't like beans in with peas. Oh well! I wonder how much of the soup was actually eaten? The kids probably had the most fun chopping and stirring. : )
We had a beautiful snow fall this morning. Big huge snow clumps were falling.. it was so pretty! Eli actually commented on how neat the trees looked on the way to school. I don't feel like I thought about things like that when I was their age... it makes me so happy that they're able to appreciate that at such a young age. There are many evenings when they point out how pretty the sunset looks... I just love that.
Today was report card day for Rachel. These were her words when she took her report card out of her backpack... "Mom, do you want to see how good I been? I'm excited to show you, because I don't even know!" Too cute. I was happy to tell her that she's doing very well... so proud of her!
Just a funny very short conversation with Eli today while we were in the car...
Eli to me, "Mom, does the Dad get out when the Mom is getting the baby out?" Just to clarify I said, "You mean out of the room?" He said, "Yes." My response, "No." Thankfully, that was the end of the conversation!! I thought for sure he was going to ask more questions, but that was it. At least this time around!
We made our first snowman (or snowmen) of the season this afternoon. All I can say is that is some HEAVY snow out there! We rolled the bottom section where we wanted it without too much trouble. The middle section was the tricky part. There was NO WAY I could pick up the middle section and put it on top of the bottom, so we had to break it apart and put the pieces back together where they belonged. Worked out pretty well. We used the snowman kit we got from Grandma and Grandpa a couple years ago (thanks!) and a few other items to complete our "Mom" snowman and "Little" snowman. I did get a few questions from Eli wondering why the snowman smokes, because the kit came with a pipe. Maybe there is a good answer to that question based off the movie or something, but I'm not aware of it. I was kind of stumped with the question. Rachel helped me out and said... "they just do." Thanks, Rachel! : ) I warned the kids that it's supposed to be warm tomorrow, so our snowman could melt already tomorrow. They were okay with that news. Rachel did say that tomorrow we have to get a picture of them with sad faces next to the melted snowman... so, stay tuned!
That is one huge snowman! Love it!
