Evergreen: June 2012

Last weekend we went camping with my sister and her family... so much fun!!!  I need to mention that my sister was such a trooper!!!  She went camping in 90 degree weather, slept in a tent (we did offer our camper to her) and is over 36 weeks pregnant! : )

The forecast was hot...

But, our plan was to hang out at the pool the entire time - which we pretty much did.  Didn't feel like it was in the 90s when we were by the water.  Very FUN time!!!  The kids were all great... and play together so well.

This was when the kids went to the pool Friday evening.  We got to the campsite later than we had hoped and by the time we all got set up it was getting late.  We also had to make supper.  We were going to skip the pool Friday and just do our swimming Saturday since time was limited and the pool closed at 9pm.  But, since the kids kept asking, we decided to take them over to the pool while Mike and Tim cooked supper.  So, glad we went... it was not busy at all and all the kids had a great time.  We didn't eat supper until after 9pm, but it was worth it and it didn't seem to bother the kids at all.  Here was the first picture I took (before Ryan got there)... many more to follow! ; )

Kate got a little cranky, but to be expected when we have six in our camper... one of them being an infant who gets up to eat still in the middle of the night.  The first night was a little rough around 3:45am, but night two was much better.  Nate woke up to eat and Kate also woke up on Friday night.  She just cried... couldn't even figure out what she wanted to make her stop.  Finally I figured out a granola bar and cookie would do the trick.  After that I held her for a bit and then she finally fell asleep.  During this time I also fed Nate a bottle and got him back to sleep.  Good times!!

Here are a lot of pictures of the fun.  Almost all are in the water... that's where we were 95% of the time I think.  One thing we need to remember for next time is to have water shoes for the kids.  The bottom of the pool is really rough, so their feet all hurt so bad after swimming all day.  I remember that from last year, too.  Now if I can only remember this next year.

[the girls]

[love this one!]

[Zimmermans minus Nate]

[Krempiens]

[here's Nate]

[Mike trying to teach Eli to float with his life jacket - Eli will not trust his life jacket for some reason]

[all the kids used these a lot in the deep water.  they had so much fun!]

It's really amazing how much more comfortable all the kids were in the water this year compared to last year.  They've all grown up so much.  Rachel and Eli were going under water and Rachel even did a cannonball!  Good times!

[Tim spent some time trying to teach Abby how to swim... she was very interested in learning - very cute]

[Kate going with Mike up the slide]

[so fun!]

[Eli only went down once... his shorts really stuck and it took him forever to get down the slide ~ felt bad for him]

[Eli and Rachel watching Kate go down the slide]

[here they go...]

[she did great and wanted to go again... but, then changed her mind as they walked back towards the steps]

[the Krempiens... love this picture!]

[Sheri and I went to the pool at 9am when it opened to get a spot with a table and umbrella... so glad we did that!]

[love this]

[love this one of the girls snacking and chatting - they look so grown up]

My parents came to visit on Saturday afternoon for awhile.  It was nice to see them - the kids were very excited!  Thanks mom and dad for visiting and for bringing snacks!]

[love how Ryan's hair looks when it's this length and wet - he looks so cool!]

[Kate and my mom putting their hands in the water - great shot Mike]

[Nate with my dad]

[her shadow looked so neat... had to get a few pictures]

[now that's a real smile!]

We went to the lake for awhile Saturday evening while Mike and Tim made supper.  Rachel and Abby had fun in the water.  The boys were tired of swimming so played in the sand.  By this time we were all pooped from a long day in the water and sun. : )

Just a few more pictures hanging out around the campsite...

[if you look closely you can see Sheri in Tim's sunglasses... didn't even plan for that.]

[love this shirt!]

[Nate in the inner-tube... smiling, of course.  and, no this isn't in water!!]

[our camper beneath the moonlight... love this picture!]

So, another great time camping.  We always say we should stay more than just two nights.  Hopefully we remember next year and make a little longer vacation out of it.  That is if the Krempiens are up for camping in their tent with a one-year old!  Maybe we'll have to do something different for sleeping arrangements next year??  Maybe Sheri and me in the camper with the little ones and then Mike and Tim in tents with the older kids????  Guess we'll have to wait and see.  It's just so much fun!!

Keep smiling!
