Yesterday we had the Braatz kids over. Their parents had a big painting project to do, so I offered to watch their kids. I know how much easier it is to get things done when your kids are busy somewhere else. : ) They were great... no problem at all! Loved having them!
It was super hot out yesterday. We had the pool set up, but they weren't really interested. Rachel and Claire did end up swimming in the afternoon. They mostly kept busy inside. The boys played Wii a lot. Eli hasn't been into the Wii, but for some reason I couldn't get him to stop yesterday. Guess that's okay to do every once in awhile.
[Claire, Kate and Rachel... they played so well together]
[such a cutie!]
[Nate's awake - he is always so alert looking!!]
Yesterday afternoon Nate was playing in the highchair and ended up falling asleep. When he woke up he had a hand print on his head... thought it was funny, so had to share!
I was up at 5am this morning with Nate. While I was up Maggie, who is usually sound asleep at this time, was just staring out the patio door. I knew she was watching something...figured a squirrel or something. I turned on the light and there was an opossum out there!! Kind of freaked me out a bit. It had climbed on our bird feeder somehow and broke the bottom off, so all the seed fell on the ground. It was just sitting there eating and eating. I watched it for awhile... hoping to see where it went when it was done. I decided to look online to find out more about them and when I looked out a couple minutes later it was gone. Bummer... I had no idea where it went. Guessing it went under the deck, but who knows. Time to get a live trap!
[you can also see my ruined planter... that happened about a week ago - thinking it was the opossum, too!]
Today I watched Evie and Ella came over. Eli went to play with Blake. It was a great day!
[the girls eating lunch outside... felt good to get to spend some time outside without sweating!]
Here are some pictures that Michelle took of the boys "playing." I think the girls were a little more calm than the boys... although they had their crazy moments, too. The kids all play so well together... love it!
Rachel and Ella helped me take the little ones for a walk. I put Nate and Evie in the double stroller and Kate in the single one. Each girl pushed one. It was weird to have five kids for a walk and I wasn't doing anything!! Thanks Rachel and Ella! : )
[Nate and Evie's legs... they look the same!]
[darn - this focused on the snack tray... bummer]
Today was a great day... Evie gave me some smiles!!!!! You could tell she was so much more comfortable today than the last time she was here. I think she's starting to remember us and we're actually familiar to her. She was great - we love having her around! : )
[those eyes!!!]
[here's our "friend" again tonight!]
My dad came over with a live trap tonight. It's all set up... and the little stinker is out there right now eating seed all around the trap. Come on - just go in there!! I'm going to have a hard time going to sleep tonight... I can't help but look out the window every five minutes!
[my dad showing the kids how the trap works]
[Rachel telling a story...]
The kids were very hyper after we saw the opossum tonight. They were telling all kinds of stories. Rachel's was my favorite... "what if we went to the dentist tomorrow and the dentist went to look in our mouth and we had opossum teeth?!!" I can only imagine what they're dreaming about tonight...
