Memorial Day Weekend

We had a very nice Memorial Day weekend.  We got to spend time with family, be active, get a few things done around the house and even relax a bit.

Here are some pictures of the fun...

Brewer Game w/Friends

[Mike and I went to a Brewer game with the Hoffmans Friday... great time - and they won!]

[kids just chilling outside on Saturday morning... it was beautiful out!]

Saturday
On Saturday I bought flowers and the kids helped me plant them.  Then we also went to grandma and grandpa's for supper.  It was fun.  We had a campfire there, too.  We didn't last too long and hope our camping trips this Summer will be nothing like what we experienced Saturday night.  Nate wasn't happy in the stroller or on a lap.  Pretty much the only options for him when there's a fire.  Hoping when we're camping he'll have no problem going to bed.  Where?  Not sure yet!

[he thought he was pretty cool with corn!]

Sunday: Salute the Troops
Sunday the kids and I ran in the Salute the Troops races.  This was the second year of the event and this year they had a half marathon along with the 5K and kids' 1/2 mile run.  We weren't planning on running, but after my performance last weekend I was ready to do a half again... I wasn't very happy with my performance in Chicago and I knew I could do better.  I signed up just before the deadline before the price increase... I think it was last Sunday or Monday.  The forecast looked perfect, too.

[the kids are ready!]

[and, they're off!]

[Eli did great!]

[and, so did Rachel... she wasn't far behind Eli!]

Rachel and Eli finishing race.  Eli is a very serious runner and Rachel, well, isn't.  She was smiling the entire time - love it!!!  Sorry about our loud cheers of encouragement in the video!  http://youtu.be/SvrlYy2jdSo

[they were very excited to get ribbons]

Thanks, Mary, for the pictures... much appreciated!

I ran my half almost exactly 10 minutes faster than last weekend.  1:44:23  I was much happier with that performance.  It was my personal best, so glad I did it.  The weather was absolutely perfect!

After the run we hung out at home for awhile before heading to my parents' to celebrate Memorial Day, mother's day and my dad's birthday.  No pictures of that fun, but it was fun!

[This is Kate with something she found.  Yes, it's bird poop.  And, yes, she did have to go inside immediately and wash her hands.  Wouldn't be as bad if she wasn't a thumb-sucker! ;)]

[relaxation!  Eli in hammock and Rachel reading to Kate... love]

Monday: Memorial Day Parade
Today Mike golfed and I took the kids to the parade with my mom.  Abby slept over last night, so she also joined up.  It was a nice parade.  So happy the rain held off for most of it.  Helped eat leftovers at my parents' for lunch and then headed home.  Pretty low key afternoon, which was nice.

Keep smiling!
