I asked her what kind of birthday she wanted and she said an "umbrella party." Okay, I thought... we can make this work! Figure with four kids we're going to need to do some unoriginal themes if we want them all different. : )
A lot of family and friends were here to help celebrate. I think Kate had a great time! Each party gets a bit more smooth for Mike and I. I guess, we've done it 18 times now... we should be getting good at it. ; )
Here are some pictures from the party... thanks again everyone for everything! Kate is one lucky girl!
[I struggled a bit with umbrella-themed decorations. ;)]
[I bought the white shirt to go with her pants, but the once I got it home couldn't help but paint an umbrella on the white shirt...]
[it's always hard to stop, so I had to also put something on the back. ;)]
[love this sisters picture!]
[adorable dress from my sister and her family]
[rain boots from nani and papa]
[Rachel colored in the sign on the patio door... Kate loved it and pointed it out to everyone!]
[it's always fun with our friends and their kids are able to make it to the parties]
[love when the kids stare at me when everyone signs happy birthday to them. one of my favorite parts of the parties... they all seem to do it. : )]
Video of us singing to Kate... http://youtu.be/NPhX70vVwMw
[this is her showing how old she is after everyone sang]
[whatever works!]
[love this picture of Nevie!]
[fleece from the Hoffmans]
[hat from grandma and grandpa]
Thanks again everyone who was able to help us celebrate and those that helped clean up... much appreciated!
Had to share some of these... seems that our parties always end with this towards late evening when just the cousins are left. Gives us so many laughs!!!!
[this one really cracks me up!!]
Since we didn't feel like sloppy joes for lunch and supper, and had no other plans, we decided at the last minute to let Kate pick where to go to eat since it was her birthday. She picked McDonald's... yes, we (or I) tried to change her mind, but it wasn't happening! ; )
The kids were very well-behaved and I was so happy they were okay skipping the play area. As we were eating I saw one kid licking a pole in the play area and two others were chasing each other and rubbing boogers on each other... really? Don't worry the parents were there... all on electronic devices and having no clue what their kids were doing. I'm really not normally a germ-freak, but that was too much for me! We came home and had cupcakes and ice cream... much better than playing!
Keep smiling!!
