The first reason I'm so proud of Rachel is because she cares so much about people.
We had an appointment on Friday for her to get her hair cut. She was overdo for a trim. She asked how much she could have cut and I said probably about two inches. She asked if she could have more like four inches cut and I said sure. Then she said she wanted to have more cut off and wanted to have short hair like she did about two and a half years ago. She donated her hair to Locks of Love then and was now interested in doing it again. I told her that she definitely could if that's what she wanted to do and her hair was long enough. I measured and she did have enough to donate, but her hair would be short. She was very excited!
The night before I was brushing her hair and asked her if she still wanted her hair cut and she said yes... with so much excitement. I reminder her that if she did I wouldn't be able to braid it anymore. She said that was okay because it'd grow back. So, she did it... 10 inches cut and she loves it! It really looks cute and it will be very nice for the Summer! The best part is that she is able to help someone else who is less fortunate than her.

Rachel had her friend sleep over last night. They had a great time! They were even visited by her friend's brothers. We all ate pizza together. Great time with some great kids!
The girls did a lot of dancing! It was so fun to watch them! : )

And, the second reason I'm so proud of Rachel is because she is such a hard worker and doesn't give up.
Last Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday she went to tryouts for the Cardinal Skippers Jump Rope Team. There were quite a few kids there, so I had a feeling she wouldn't make it. We talked about the fact that they couldn't take everyone and that if she didn't make it at least she would learn more of what they want the kids to know, so if she was interested still next year she could tryout again and know what to practice before the tryouts.
Well, today she got her letter in the mail and...
YES, she made it! I'm so proud of her and excited!! She was super excited to find out she made the team and is so excited to learn more tricks. I'm very excited to watch her learn, too! It's so fun to see her so excited about something... love it!

Before she went to bed tonight I told her how proud I was of her and she said... "You know why it worked out? I was a hard worker, I never gave up and I wished on a star. That really is why!" Then she said, "A lot of things I wished for on a star came true, but two things haven't... to see Winter the dolphin and to see Justin Bieber. But, they probably never will." She said it in a way that made me think she realized those things are far-fetched and are good dreams to have. But, I have a feeling she'll keep wishing on stars for them... and I love that. Dreams are good to have. : )
