american idol, dancing with the stars... and old pictures

Not a whole lot to update about, but wanted to get something down.  Now that I'm thinking about what to write I realized there are a few exciting things to write about...

Dancing with the Stars ~ yippee Donald Driver!
So happy he won.  I really didn't watch much of the season and think I only saw him dance once, but sounds like he was very good and deserving of the trophy.  He just seems like such a great guy!  The part I'm going to remember most I think about him winning is the look on his daughter's face when she was with him right after he won.  She was crying and had the absolute saddest (and cutest) looking face.  What a little sweetheart.

American Idol - way to go Phillip Phillips!
We are pretty loyal to this show and watch it just about every week... especially once there are about 24 singers left.  Rachel just loves watching it - and so do I!  There were a lot of great singers this year, but I was pulling for Phillip.  So happy he won!  Wishing him nothing but the best in his future.  Awesome!

[the kids all watching on the final results night]

Today Nate was being a little fussy right when it was lunch time.  He wasn't happy with just chilling in the bouncy seat or on the floor and I really had to make Eli lunch before he left for school.  So, I used our baby carrier.  It worked so well!!  I haven't had to use it yet for him, but it proved to be very helpful today.  I left him in it while we waited outside for Eli's bus and he ended up falling asleep.  Too cute!

[this is me trying to get a picture... he was so cute in the thing.  i should have taken a video - he just kept flailing his arms and legs]

[and here he is peaking under his hat just after waking up]

The kids have been saying some funny things lately.  Thankfully I wrote them down when they said them... or I would have never remembered these things!

When we were watching American Idol and Jennifer Lopez performed I made the comment that Jennifer wasn't signing.  I explained lip-syncing.  Rachel's question, "Well, Mom, why is she sweating if she isn't even singing?"  I explained that she's still dancing around, so that is making her sweaty.  I was so bummed when I noticed she wasn't really singing.  Really?  How can you not sing when you're performing on a singing talent show?  Doesn't make any sense to me.

Rachel informed Eli that his head is shaped like a light-bulb.  Sounds weird, but she's actually right.  Funny.

I was going through old pictures... I mean, really old pictures.  From when I was in grade school.  Rachel saw this picture and said, "What is that little thingy?"  I told her it was a camera.  She said, "Oh my gosh, that is what a camera looked like in the olden days?  Look Eli!!"  Love it!

[sorry Sam... : )]

She also asked me, "Why does everyone have glasses and curly hair?"  I, of course, told her, "Because it was cool!!"

[Amy and Anna - love it!]

Keep smiling! : )
