Lakefly Run
Rachel ran in the Lakefly Run at Lakeside Park. The weather was pretty cold and damp, but we all headed out to watch Rachel run. She had a lot of fun. There weren't many kids there at all. I think the weather had a lot to do with that. Rachel ended up taking 3rd place for 1st grade girls. She had to run a 1/2 mile and was able to run the entire way... GREAT JOB RACHEL! I think she paced herself a little better than her last run. If she runs the Walleye Run this year she'll need to run a mile. So, we definitely have to work with her on how to pace herself before then. She likes to give it her all in the beginning and then runs out of steam towards the end. ; )

They were planning to give the ribbons away after all the races were done. Rachel was one of the first races, so we had awhile to wait. Nate started to get fussy, so I decided to walk him down the road to try to get him to fall asleep. There was one more mile race before the awards, so I thought I'd have plenty of time. I was down the road and all of a sudden they started to announce winners. There was no way I could get back in time to hear and see (and get pictures) of Rachel getting her ribbon. I was so bummed... sad that I missed it. I got back and said I thought they had one more race to go and Mike told me they did, but they decided to give out the awards before the last race because people were getting impatient waiting. It was taking awhile, but I was just upset that they changed the plan and I missed it. Darn.
Gymnastics - last day of lessons
Rachel has been taking gymnastics lessons at UW-FDL for the last six weeks or so. She has been having such a good time... sad it's over already!! Her friend Maddy and her cousin Abby were also in lessons. They all had a good time together. Abby wasn't at the last lesson, because she had rehearsal for her first communion. Here are some pictures I took. I stayed at her lesson since it was her last day. She was very excited for me to see all she's learned! When we left I told her, "I love to watch you do gymnastics." She smiled... : )

Right after gymnastics we headed up to Oshkosh for Abby's first communion. Sheri asked me to do Abby's hair, so I went early to help get Abby ready. She looked so cute in her beautiful dress! It was a very nice ceremony. So, we had all the kids at church, which lasted almost an hour and a half I think. They actually did great. Kate fussed once and Mike took her in the back for a little bit. I stood with Nate for most of mass in the back, but he was quiet and did fall asleep for awhile. I'll take that! We hung out Sheri and Tim's house after for a little get together. It was a very fun time as usual! I think we left at about 10:00pm.

Fort Day
Today has been a dreary, rainy day. Our day has been very mellow. This morning the kids asked if I could make them forts. I told them I didn't think I would because the others times I've done that they don't play in them. I end up spending all the time getting them set up, they play in for about 10 minutes (at the most) and then I end up tearing apart after they're up for about a day and not used. They ensured me they'd play in them this time. So, I decided I'd give them the forts they wanted. I made one for Rachel and one for Eli in separate bedrooms. Well, they played in for about 30 minutes right away and so far no more. Oh well. I actually had fun making them this time. : )

Here is what the kids are doing now... they took the tent that was part of a fort I made downstairs and are playing cards in the tent. Really, when you have two very nice forts to play in you chose the tent that is always here? Oh well! : )
