It began with a short bike ride with the kids. Eli and Kate in the pull behind carrier and Rachel on her bike. This was the first time Kate was in here and she loved it. It was fun. We went pretty early... yes, Kate still has her pjs on... and it was already pretty warm. Fun though!
After that we hung out until it was time to go to the National Exchange Bank Petting Zoo downtown. I was thinking it was from 11am-1pm, so we met my Mom and Abby and Ryan there at 11am. I thought it was weird that a lot of people were leaving already at 11am, which is when I thought the thing started. Come to find out... it was from 9-11am! Not sure how I got that messed up. I even had it right on the calendar, but never double-checked and just thought it started at 11am. Oh well. We still got to see most things and even got a free ice cream cone from Gillies... thanks Gillies!

Rachel jumped some rope early this afternoon. She loves it so much!!! She's been really interested in learning new jump rope skills. I really don't know many tricks, but we've come up with a few. She is signed up for a Jump Rope Clinic later this month, which she is so excited for!! Her and her cousin, Abby, are doing it together.
Here is Rachel doing some of the new things she's learned. I love that she doesn't give up. She just keeps on trying. She got just one welt on her back from the jump rope today... ouch! Didn't seem to bother her though.
Next was to drop Rachel off to a birthday party for her friend, Emma. She was very excited! She was invited to sleep over, but she didn't want to. I didn't want to force her... even though I knew she'd have a blast. She was hesitant to even go to the party, so I was happy she decided to go. I didn't even pack the overnight stuff and tell her that it would be there just in case she changed her mind and wanted to stay after being there all day. Figured I could just bring her stuff if she decided to stay over... not a huge deal. She is very stubborn sometimes, so I thought if I packed her overnight stuff, she'd for sure not stay over just because she'd think I was making her stay overnight by packing her stuff. Maybe I over-thought it, but seemed to me there'd be a better chance of her wanting to sleepover if her stuff wasn't there. : )
Dropped her off and she went and played right away... so all was good! I told Nikki (Emma's Mom) that she could call anytime and I could come pick up Rachel. Wasn't sure when she'd be ready to come home. Figured it would be after supper and cake.
Well, got a call at 6:30 and was told Rachel was sad and missed me. I talked to Rachel on the phone and told her I'd be there to pick her up and she'd be fine until I got there. She was pretty emotional on the phone. I felt terrible that my daughter was being so emotional... but, not much I could do about it. I drove to get her... other side of town, so about a 20 minute drive. It was pretty nice to drive all by myself with the windows down and the music cranked! I actually wished the drive was longer!
I get to Emma's house and Rachel comes up to me and gives me a hug and says she missed me. Kind of made me feel good... kind of nice to feel missed. : ) But, then she says, all excited and with a huge smile... "Mom, I'm sleeping over!" I think my jaw dropped to the floor... "What? I thought I was coming here to take you home?" She said "No, but can you bring my bear, pillow pet and jammies?" "Really? Why didn't you tell me this when you were saying you missed me on the phone and I told you I would be there right away to pick you up?" "Sorry, Mom" she said. At this point, part of me wanted to say... No, you're coming with me. You said you wanted to come home, so I'm here to take you home. The other part of me wanted her to sleepover if she was excited about it. I knew she'd have fun and didn't want her to back out and then continue to be afraid of the sleepover. So.... yup, I did it! Drove all the way home, got her sleepover stuff and then took it back to Emma's house. Yes, all with the windows down and the music cranked. Actually loved every minute of it!! : )
As of now the sleepover is still going well... no phone call yet that she misses me and wants to come home. Keeping my fingers crossed! The things you do as a parent... good thing I love all of it!
Jayden and Joe also stopped over this afternoon. It was great to hang out. Kate and Jayden had a blast playing! It was so much fun to watch them interact! They are pretty much the same size and Kate is four months older than Jayden. We pretty much knew he would pass her up at some point... I think the time is here. He's also very mobile... way more interested in getting around than our Kate. : )

At around the two minute mark of the video you'll see Jayden give me a look as if to say "Aren't you going to tell her to give me my phone back?" Sorry Jayden... I didn't want my voice to ruin the video. The body language they were giving each other was so adorable!!
So, Eli was a little sad that Rachel wasn't going to be home tonight. So, to try to cheer him up I told him we could have ice cream for a treat before bed and that I'd sleep in the living room with him and we'd have our own little sleepover. That cheered him up a bit... but, he still really did miss his big sister. I did explain to him that when we move to our new house he's going to have his own room and won't be sleeping with Rachel anymore. Tried to make it sound fun by reminding him that the train table would be in his room and most of his toys can be in there, too. He seemed okay with it, but I have a feeling this is going to be a tough transition for him. He really does love his big sister.
Here is Eli at his "sleepover." I think he lasted until about 10pm. : )
