Today was Rachel's last full day of school. She said they really didn't do anything different today. Was her last day of gym and music. She said her Lunchable was good! : ) Her teacher told her to bring an extra bag to school for all the stuff they were going to be bringing home today. Forgot to grab a plastic bag from home, but that ended up being okay. We were in the car at her school and I told Rachel I forgot to grab a bag for her... then it dawned on me! I had a RuMe Bag in my purse! Love those things!!!! She could put the rolled up bag in her backpack and unroll it when she needed it - perfect!

Rachel ended up coming home with a lot of stuff. I feel like things are accumulating as quickly as I'm packing them... feels as though I'm never going to be able to catch up. Rachel was excited to be able to have several pieces of the string of paper they used to count the days they were in school. We had about 15 feet of paper with numbers on it. I did convince her we didn't need to keep it. We did keep some of the other more memorable things she brought home. One of my favorites was a sign that said "Mrs. Redding." She said she grabbed this when Mrs. Redding, her teacher, told the kids to grab something that would help them remember their school year. How sweet she picked that. She loves her teacher. : )
Rachel also got an attendance award. She didn't miss one day of school this year. Very proud of her!
Just a half day left for her... hard to believe she'll be in first grade next year!
Eli and the Birds
Well, our two baby birds are not really babies anymore. I can't believe how fast they've grown! We've been keeping an eye on them. Today I thought for sure they were going to leave their nest. Glad they decided to stay since we've had some nasty storms tonight. Feel better that they're protected near the house one more night. I think they'll be flying away tomorrow.
We went out there to check on them several times today. When we went out one time one bird was actually sitting on the ledge and not in the nest anymore. Thought that one was going to fly out for sure. Since their nest is built by our garage I was afraid they'd get hurt falling out and hitting the cement so we had a blanket laying under them... until it started raining. I'll have to get it back out there tomorrow. I know they'll be fine without it, but want to make their fall a little less painful if possible. : )
I know she is almost 13 months old, but this afternoon was the first time Kate has been kneeling up in her crib when I've gone in to get her after bed or a nap! She was crying, but I was so excited I had to run and get the camera. Sorry Kate! I usually go in there and get her when I hear her talking. She's usually just laying there talking and content as can be. Sometimes I think she'd lay in bed all day if I didn't go in and get her. She was also sitting up in her crib when I got her this morning. Finally, Kate - you're getting some motivation! : )
Tonight was also her first night going to bed without a bottle. I finally finished her last can of formula. She has milk during the day and I have just been giving her formula bottles before bed until the can was gone. Now, she's officially a big girl... maybe she'll start walking tomorrow! Haha! We love to tease Kate... she doesn't seem to mind! She knows she's really the best baby ever! : )
Mike: Two Years with Gore
Congratulations to my wonderful husband for having two very successful years with Gore. I'm so happy he's working a job he loves so much. He's survived some not so pleasant jobs in the past, but they all prepared him for the position he's in now... or we like to think so. He's made it through "PitneyBlows" (which he calls it) and a pharmaceutical career and is now in the medical sales field. He talks a lot about how wonderful the company is and how neat all the people are that he works with. Great job Mike... I'm very proud of you!!
One more thing...
I just have to share this. My sister might be the only one that gets a smile (or laugh) from it, but thought it was worth it just for that. Sheri - I didn't even do this on purpose... the carrots started crackling, so I stopped the microwave... right on ZERO! : )
Keep smiling! : )
