We woke up to snow on Friday and I also didn't get up when my alarm went off! Yikes! Thankfully, Eli came in around 6:30am asking if he could get up yet. I sent him back to bed until 7am and quick started to get ready. Thank you Eli!!
We finished up packing, got Maggie to the kennel, took Nate to grandma and grandpa's and then we were off. All went pretty smooth. Thankfully the roads were pretty clear and we made it most of the way without any more snow. When I woke up to hear schools were closed I was a bit worried.
We had enough time to catch some lunch before Mike needed to meet for his work stuff. We went to Buffalo Phil's, which was recommended by friends. A train delivered our food... very cool!!
The kids were very excited to be in a hotel room. They've only stayed in one a couple times and Kate never has. We had a fun view out our window of the outdoor water park. How fun!
We had all afternoon/evening on Friday to keep busy while Mike was working. The kids were not interested in doing any slides on Friday and didn't seem too excited about the water at all. They were actually all happy watching the surfing area, so we sat there for quite a while. It was really fun to watch people. There were some hard falls and lots of laughs. Let's just say there were many suit malfunctions. ; )
[not sure why she was doing this... it wasn't really that loud. thought it was cute though!]
After swimming the kids and I went back to the room. We ate some snacks in the room and then we walked around. We looked through the gift shop and then played some games in the arcade. They had a blast. I think the arcade might have been their favorite thing to do! There were some cool games!!
We walked up to this game and Rachel wanted to try. She stopped on the bonus on her first try... she got 183 tickets and was super excited when they all came spitting out!! : )
The kids had fun playing some games, but they also had fun just sitting in a bunch of them, too - and not even playing them. I really had to watch Kate. She would just wander. It's like the lights would pull her towards things without her control. ; )
We went back to the room to have some supper. I had packed stuff for sandwiches, so we just had those. I thought it'd be nice to just have sandwiches in the room sometimes instead of eating out for every meal. Too bad I didn't pack utensils or plates! Live and learn. A coffee stir stick worked... not well, but it worked. The only other things I forgot were diapers and wipes for Kate! Yes, how is that possible?! I packed a ton for Nate at the grandparents, but none for Kate! I did have swim diapers, but I didn't have the diaper bag or anything... that was all with Nate! We had to make a Wal-Mart stop as soon as we got to the Dells.
So, after eating supper in our room it was about 8pm and the kids didn't seem tired. So, we walked around some more. Decided to get some ice cream. So much fun!
And, more walking around looking at games. Yes, Kate was walking around in her pjs. : )
We found the fun mirrors!
Here are a few pictures I took in the water park. I was too afraid to take my camera along, because I didn't want it sitting at the table when we weren't there. Just took my phone out a couple times for pictures.
And, more video games! This is the closest Kate has been to a toilet in awhile. ; )
Overall, very fun time! Mike got to hang out Saturday afternoon and Sunday until we left just before lunch. There were many times when I was very happy we left Nate behind... but, there were times when I wished he was there. He would have been a handful and because Mike wasn't there to help most of the time it would have been just too much for me. Rachel and Eli wouldn't have been able to do anything fun if I was busy with Kate and Nate the entire time.
We went to Moosejaw for supper on Saturday night. That was fun, too... and their pizza was really good!!
We had a room with two queen beds and a fold out couch. I'm sure you're wondering how everyone slept. Let's just say... not very well. But, it was still fun! : )
Sounds like we might have the opportunity to go again next year. If so, Nate will be joining us. I'm already getting excited and a bit nervous. ; )
Big THANKS to my parents and Mike's parents for watching Nate while we were gone!
Keep smiling!
