Kate: Jumping Rope
Kate has been very interested in jumping rope. She still has a long way to go, but it's fun to watch her determination. She just keeps trying!
Rachel: Decluttered Room
Rachel has a hard time keeping her room clean. A lot of the problem is that she has a ton of little stuff (most of what I'd call junk) in her room. I finally decided to get rid of all the little stuff. I actually got rid of everything that wasn't a bed, dresser, desk, book or clothes. Most of the stuff I tossed, but some I did put in a bin. When she can prove that she can keep her room clean then she can have the stuff back. So far, so good. The dirty clothes are finding their way to the hamper... we're making progress! I felt bad doing this, but felt I had no other option. I was tired of telling her to pick up her stuff every single day.
Folding Socks
So, I always leave the socks to fold last... because it's my least favorite. Well, many times I find an excuse not to get to the socks. So, I add the pile of socks to the pile of socks that was left after I folded the previous time, and the time before that and the time before that. The pile of socks filled an entire basket! Figured I really needed to attack it. Was tired of telling the kids to go in our room to find a matching pair of socks in the pile. Really, who does that? Poor kids!
Kate and I sat down ready to tackle the pile and it was overwhelming. There were so many it was difficult to even find a match... even though most did have the match there. I decided the easiest way to do this would be first to sort the socks by person and then try matching. Yes, that does mean the pile of socks was huge! After sorting (good lesson for Kate at least) we matched socks. It was quite the job, but we did finish it and the basket of socks is gone... at least all the matches are put away. There is still a decent number that have no match, which I'm hoping is gone soon. My goal is to fold the socks right away and not leave for later... because later turns into a really long time and creates a huge pile and a very time-consuming job. ; )
Eli:Golfing (Nov. 21, 2012)
Here is a video that Mike took when he took Eli golfing about a week ago. This was Eli's first time on a big course. He had a blast with daddy and Grandpa!
Keep smiling!!
Really enjoy your blog. I hate sorting socks too so I make that a weekly job for my children. They actually do it in front of the tv on Sunday nights -- a good way to wind down before the end of the weekend.
