Kate: Toot Spot
Well, first of all I'm talking about the "Tot Spot" at Festival. For anyone not familiar with the Tot Spot... it's a childcare service offered at Festival for shoppers. It's such a nice idea! Rachel, Eli and I have a little inside joke and always call it the Toot Spot, because that's what Rachel called it on accident one time. Gives us a lot of laughs!
I recently realized that kids can be dropped off as long as they're at least 18 months old... I thought they had to be older. I've only had Rachel and Eli stay there and thought we'd try Kate during my last shopping trip there. Got them all signed in and while I was doing that the girl gave the kids wipes to wash their hands. She told Kate she couldn't suck her thumb. I thought she said that because she didn't want Kate to put her thumb in her mouth after having it wiped with a wipe. The kids go inside, I rush off to do my shopping... all good right?
Well... not really, as I learned when I returned to pick up the kids. Or should I say I learned what happened after we left and were walking back out to the car. They were all just fine when I got there and the girl working didn't say anything to me (although there was a worker switch while I was shopping.) Rachel said Kate cried a lot... because they wouldn't let her suck her thumb. I felt terrible!!! Both for the worker, but also for Kate. It's her security thing and she was in an unfamiliar place and just wanted to suck it and then she had someone she didn't know telling her she couldn't. Poor girl. I understand why they do it and think it's great. But, I can't believe they didn't just let her suck it this time and then tell me when I got there what the rule was. I had no idea. I want to thank Rachel for trying to help calm Kate down when she was upset. Rachel did have to let me know that Kate embarrassed her. I think she picked that up from me... I told her that her and Eli embarrassed me when they wrestled in front of our neighbors over the weekend. (funny) So, we'll see if Kate wants to go there next time. I might have to send her in there with a glove on or something!!

Yes, I realize this is almost five months late, but it's been quite the process/hassle. I ordered our first family sticker from this place online and it took forever and many, many follow-up calls with PayPal and the vendor. Finally, they sent the decal. When it was time to order a new sticker I found the info for the same vendor again. Thought, it can't be as hard the second time. Their excuse last time was that they were moving their warehouse or something. So, I tried it again. I really liked the people and couldn't find that style on any other websites.
Well, I placed my order and no response, no response, continued follow-ups by phone and email. Contacted PayPal and they finally just gave me a credit since I didn't receive the product. I searched online some more and finally found another vendor that had the same people. Yeah! Ordered and it came less than a week later I think. So, now it's on and should be good for as long as it stays on. Didn't make Nate a baby... then we don't have to update when he gets to be a bigger kid. So, this is our family... four kids, really?! Doesn't seem like it!!! : )
Ice Cream
Tonight the kids and I had some ice cream... yummy! They like to stir it up after it melts a bit. Eli suggested to Rachel to put her bowl under the kitchen light so it would melt faster. Good idea Eli, but don't think it'll work. I let him think it might work and didn't say anything. : )
Nate: Size 3
I can't believe this, but I put Nate in a size 3 diaper for the first time today!! His 2's have seemed to be getting pretty small. Finally finished up what I had and now onto size 3. So crazy... he's growing up way too fast!!!!
Rachel: Jump Rope for Heart prizes
Rachel brought home the things she earned for raising money during Jump Rope for Heart. She got a lot of things... a ball, t-shirt, launcher, jump rope and water bottle. Here she is using her launcher thing... the kids had a blast with it. Hoping it lasts for awhile. It's fun to watch them with it, too. Kate can even do it.
