Happy Easter!

The kids got to bed late last night, so wasn't sure what time the Easter festivities would start this morning.  I figured Rachel and Eli would be up at 7:00am as usual, but thought Kate might sleep until noon!  I was right about Rachel and Eli and Kate I think got up at 9:30ish.

Here is the note they left for the Easter Bunny.

We let Rachel and Eli find their baskets and the eggs before Kate got up... wasn't fair to have them wait and I didn't want to wake sleeping beauty. ; )

Here are pictures of the hunt... the kids all had fun!

The next several pictures are of Rachel... well, being Rachel!  She was pretty funny!!  I really have no idea where she gets this behavior from!!

[Mike thought it was hilarious that the Easter Bunny gave Rachel and Eli a chocolate crucifix, but I thought it looked much easier to eat than a bunny and it was Hershey so most likely very tasty, too]

[the kids on Easter morning 2012... also to clarify, the "B" on Rachel's hat is not for Boston ~ it's obviously for Bieber!]

Since we were with both sides of the family yesterday we didn't do anything today for Easter with them. We did the Zimmerman Easter last weekend and we're doing Easter with my parents next weekend.  Was weird to have nothing to do today... kind of missed seeing family, but was also nice to just relax.

Mary took Rachel and Eli to the movie "Mirror Mirror."  They said it was good and the kids had a great time!  [Thanks Mary for taking them this afternoon!]

Also, tonight Rachel and Eli had to take showers.  I told Rachel that she was old enough to take a shower all by herself.  I said she could go up there and get started and I'd come up at the end to make sure the soap was all out of her hair.  Well, I think the lack of sleep the last couple nights caught up with her... she had an absolute, I mean absolute, freak-out!  She didn't want to take a shower without me right there.  She was out of control, which doesn't happen with her very much at all.  It only seems to happen when she's low on sleep.  It was actually comical... Mike went up by her with my phone to video tape her and that made her freak out even more.

She ended up taking her shower and then spending the little bit of time until bedtime in her room as punishment for freaking out.  She gave me the "this was the worst day of my life" before bed.  That actually hurt, but I knew she didn't mean it.  She really didn't even realize what she was saying... she was just so mad and then embarrassed that Mike got it on video.  He said he'd put on facebook, but I ensured her that would not happen.  I have a feeling this is only the start... from what it sounds ~ girls get more difficult the older they get.  So, this was just a test for me. ; )

It's funny that the day ended the way it did.  I printed this saying out earlier today and put in the kitchen where I can always see it.  It's definitely how I try to approach each day.  After the whole drama with Rachel I saw the saying and it just made me smile.  Yeah, just be happy... it's really not that bad. : )

Keep smiling! : )
