Princess Event and more...

Today was a very nice day!  Started out by going to church with Rachel, Eli and Nate.  Kate stayed home with Mike... she's a little loud in church, so kept her home this time.  The others did great... Nate slept the entire time and Rachel and Eli sat very well.  I love how Rachel can now read the music and sign along.

Next on the agenda was a Princess event at the high school that Rachel signed up for.  It was put on by the high school DECA Club.  Rachel, Nate and I went... and it was a good time.  Rachel had fun, but I could tell she felt a little old for some of the things.  And, she wasn't interested in getting her picture taken with a real live prince... oh well!  There were a few other girls her age there, but many of the girls were younger.  I thought it was a good chance for us to do something... just us, and it did turn out to be a great time for just her and I - even if the actual event wasn't super exciting for her.

Here are some pictures of the fun!

[there were many paintings around that were very well done!]

[i love this picture for some reason - that is a painting behind her which was very well done]

At the event her flip flops ended up breaking.  We were done earlier than we thought, so just went to Shopko to get her some new flip flops right away.  Was fun to do some impromptu shopping.  When we got in the car after shopping all of a sudden Rachel's up-do all fell out.  She was pretty bummed, because we were going to Christy's for supper and she was excited for Christy to see her hair.  I told her I could do her hair at home again quick before we had to go to Christy's.  So, we was happy to hear that.  I was also kind of excited to mess around with her hair and do something fun. : )

After the event I was looking through my rearview mirror and saw Rachel sitting in the backseat.  She looked sooooo old!!!!  She had her hair up nice, a little make-up on, lip gloss, earbuds in listening to music and she was chewing gum.  All signs of a big girl - made me mostly sad to see my little girl looking so old.  But, I was also very proud to see such a caring, kind and grown-up girl back there.  She is such a great girl and I wish only the best for her... love her!

[here is the big girl with her new up-do]

[she looks way too old!]

As mentioned earlier, we went to Christy's for pizza tonight - thanks Christy!  It was nice to hang out with the Zimmermans.  Kate and Olivia had a great time together... they are so funny!  I hung outside with Rachel and Eli for part of the time and took a bunch of pictures.  Many are below.

[they both look so old here]

[such a carefree picture...]

[this was after the sunglasses were off - but, still cute]

Keep smiling! : )

Just something to be conscious of as the weather starts to get nicer ~ please be aware of motorcycles on the road.  I've noticed a couple very close calls already this season and heard tonight that two of my old neighbors were recently in a motorcycle accident.  They were very, very lucky to have only minor injuries (although still very painful I'm sure.)  Their bike was totaled in the accident and the vehicle at fault didn't have insurance.  Very sad story.  So, this is just a reminder to be aware of motorcycles on the road this time of year ~ thank you...
