Field Trip to the Milwaukee Zoo

I'll be honest, I was a little nervous when asked to chaperon Rachel's all school field trip to the Milwaukee Zoo... but, turned out to be a wonderful experience!  The school did a GREAT job organizing and making the trip very enjoyable for both students and chaperons.  From my perspective, there were no major issues at all, which I find amazing when you're dealing with more than 250 students.  Kids were great, animals were fairly active and weather cooperated!  What more can you ask for?! : )

I was in charge of four students including Rachel.  One was her close friend, which made things even easier.  I think Rachel was confused at times... unsure if she was a student or chaperon.  There were a couple times I caught her saying "Come on kids" with her arms out as if to gather them in a specific direction.  Made me laugh!  That's our Rachel... the leader!  I admire that quality in her... something I really never had when I was younger and still struggle with in certain situations.

The only animal we somehow missed was the Kangaroo... not sure how we missed it, but by the time we realized we skipped it there was no time to go back to the area where it was.  The kids were okay with it.  Very good group!

Some of the fun facts we learned:
1) A GIRAFFE can go a week without drinking water...
2) A HIPPO eats grass...
3) A ZEBRA is white with black stripes and not black with white stripes...
4) A FLAMINGO will usually only fly at night and most of their feathers are black (hidden when their wings are closed)

A big thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Zim for watching Eli and Kate while I was helping Rachel's class.  Sounds like they had a great time!  Eli even got to go to the golf course with Grandpa... he was very excited about that!

Thanks also to my Mom for visiting us this evening.  Was nice hanging out and I also enjoyed my quick Target run kid-free. : )

I'm so very lucky to have so much family in town to help with my kids and to keep us company.  Not sure what I'd do without them... thanks so much! : )
