light, tangled hair, Nate stuck and booth

Well, I finally accomplished something around the house.  Have been wanting a new kitchen light, but we thought about simply painting the one we had for a change.  Figured it was worth a shot before we bought something new.  Took off the lamp shades, some of the bulkier parts and painted.  Much cheaper than buying something new and it turned out bright and fun!

A couple days ago, we ran into a problem.  Eli was playing with his remote control car and I guess he put it on Kate's back for some reason.  Well, Nate had the remote and made the car go forward... right into Kate's hair.  It created a huge mess!  Thought we were going to have to cut it out!  I worked on it for quite awhile.  Ended up taking the car apart and getting it out without cutting.  And, to my surprise, I put the car back together... and it worked!!

I think on that same day Nate almost got his head caught between a pillar we have in the kitchen and the wall... you can see the area I'm talking about in the picture with the newly painted light.  It's to the left of where the desk is.

Nate has gone through that space several times, but not for awhile.  It was always a snug fit, especially with his head.  Well, all of a sudden he was whining and I look and his head is in halfway and not coming out.  Oh boy! Now that I think back, I probably should have been panicking more than I was! ;)  I was pretty calm and thought... if it went in, it had to come out.  But, I really had to work at it.  I tried to position his head at all different angles and still no luck.  After about 30 seconds of me trying he started crying.  That's when I started to get a bit nervous.  I thought about pushing him all the way through and not trying to back him out.  My fear was that somewhere else on his body (his behind) might not fit and then I'd have to pull his head all the way back through.  Before I did that I decided to give him one hard yank back the way he went in and thankfully he was free!!  His ears were so red though.  He looked pretty scared.  I don't think he'll try that again.  But, who knows! ;)

Last weekend I had a booth at Purple Palooza, which was an event in town to support Relay for Life.  It was a lot of fun and Rachel and Abby joined me.  They also had some bracelets for sale.  They made an adorable sign.  You can see it in the lower right corner.  I thought I had a close up picture, but can't find it.  Good times!
