This morning I showed Eli that I had a note for his teacher and one for the bus driver about his change in plans. He complained and said that it was going to be hard for him to get the letter out for the bus driver. I told him I could put it in his pocket and he still whined about it... so, I just left it where it was.
I called the bus company this morning and was going to tell them about Eli's arrangements and they said all he needed was a note and he'd be fine. Cool, I thought!
So, I go to school and get Rachel and her friend and we stop at McD's to get some lunch to take home. On our way home I get a call from Eli's friend's mom. She said that Eli was not there and that the bus driver wouldn't let him on their bus because he didn't have a note. Ah, really? I said he did have a note, but it must have gotten lost or something. She thought he was still probably at school. I tried calling school and no answer. Then the mom called me back and said she just called the school and they said he wasn't there. Assumed he got on his normal bus. Called bus company to confirm. So, then headed back home to meet Eli off the bus.
I was feeling all sorts of feelings... confused, because I had a note for him; angry, because he didn't get the note to the driver and I figured he probably didn't even say a word; sad, because I knew Eli was probably crying or trying very hard to hold it back and very upset (that's Eli). Eli came off the bus and I could tell he was sad and embarrassed. I asked him what the problem was and he said the note wasn't in his pocket. I asked him if it was in his folder and he said he didn't know. I told him I didn't put it in his pocket because he still whined about that, so I just left it in his folder where I originally put it. Thought maybe it got mixed up in other papers and wasn't in his folder, but... I opened his folder and there it was.
I told him he has to talk to people. I assured him the bus driver would have waited if he told him that he had a note, but couldn't find it and wanted to quick check his folder. He is just so afraid to talk to people and really needs to do it or he's going to keep finding himself in these types of situations that really don't even have to happen. He's shy and I get that... but, he has to get over it a little bit at least. Poor guy. I'll never forget one of his teachers saying he's "painfully shy"... that is a perfect description for him. He is getting better, but there's definitely room for improvement. ; )
Nate's new hangout... not sure what to do now!
I've been trying to figure out a way to better budget and manage our money. I've seen some things about envelope systems for some expenses and like it. Have seen cute cash envelopes online and thought... I could probably do that. I say this way too often. Well, last night I tried... and stayed up WAY too late! But, it was fun and here is what I came up with. I like them... now have to get some cash to put in them. : )
[I had to use this coffee mug this am... it was perfect. ; )]
Keep smiling!
