Camping - Evergreen (July 2011)

We were camping last weekend with my sister and her family.  What a fun weekend!  We were a little nervous with the extremely hot weather that was in the forecast, but ended up being lots of fun!!

We went to Evergreen Campsites in Wild Rose, WI.  This is the campground we used to go to when I was young, so it's always fun to go back there.  They've made some drastic improvements since we used to go there.  There are plenty of playgrounds, a train ride, lake for swimming, very nice pool area (two pools, a splash pad and a water slide) and mini-golf.  We kept busy most of the weekend around the pool!

Rachel was the first to skin her knee while riding her scooter around and Ryan was a close second.  From the way the weekend started I thought I might have to replenish my band-aid supply before it was over!!  Ended up not being too bad.

Abby slept in our camper both nights.  The first night wasn't really planned, but Ryan ended up getting sick in their tent, so seemed to make sense to keep her away from him during the night to try to keep her from catching a bug if that's what caused him to get sick.  He was fine in the morning, so not exactly sure what caused it.  Just happy he was able to enjoy the rest of the weekend. : )  Sheri - I give you so much credit for sticking it out Friday night.  I was telling Mike that I think I would have packed us up and left if one of the kids got sick in a tent... way to hang in there!

The mosquitoes were terrible!  We went through over a can of bug spray.  Poor Kate seemed to get attacked the worst.  She looked terrible most of the weekend with little red marks on her face.  Thankfully they didn't seem to bother her at all.  Still not sure if the marks on her face were from mosquitoes or little gnats that seemed to always swarm her face... poor girl.

The next several pictures are from the pool area.  We were there almost all day on Saturday and then we went there again on Sunday after getting our camper packed up before it was time to leave.  Lots of fun!!

I took about an hour getting Kate warmed up to the water and it worked!  I was so excited!  I left her clothes on thinking she wouldn't think about the fact she was going in the water.  Not sure if that worked or it was just a coincidence.  She had fun sitting and splashing in the water, sitting on the side of the pool and kicking her legs and even playing with the sprinklers.  We'll see if she does this good at the county pool... keeping my fingers crossed.

[Rachel going down the slide... one of many, many, many times!  We figured Rachel and Abby went down the slide for a total of about six hours during the weekend.  Crazy!]

[Kate waving to me : )]

[Eli and Ran were not fans of the water on Saturday, but joined in on the fun Sunday... they did have to keep their t-shirts on though.  Funny!]

[Yes, this IS Ryan jumping in the pool!!!  I think shortly after this I heard him say "Mommy, I don't want to leave the pool."  We NEVER thought we'd hear him say those words!!!!!]

[Abby and Ryan... never thought this picture would exist!]

So, that was our weekend!  It was such a fun weekend and the weather ended up not being too bad.  It was perfect for swimming... which we did tons of!!!  We enjoyed lots of good breakfast (sausages, bacon, hashbrowns), pizza pudgy pies and s'mores... great memories!!!!  I'm sure I forgot something big that happened, but think I remembered most of it.

I want to also thank Sheri for grabbing the camera a lot and helping me capture the weekend through photographs... thanks!  Together we took just over 300 pictures!  Not sure why I felt the need to change most of the water pictures to sepia... just thought they looked so neat like that.

Keep smiling! : )
