basketball, basketball and preschool

Eli had his first basketball game tonight at the Y.  It was so fun to watch!  Hope to watch many more games in the future. :)  He is such a hard player and enjoys it so much!  Everyone on the court did a great job.  It's so nice to see all the hustle by these young kids.  Loved it!  No pictures.  I was too busy trying to keep Nate off the court!  Thought for sure he was going to get stitches from walking all around on the bleachers.  Just waiting for the day.

Rachel also had jump rope and piano tonight.  Wednesdays are definitely our busiest, but it's so fun!  Right now we have just two kids involved in stuff and Eli is just in one thing.  Can't imagine what's going to happen when all four are interested in doing multiple things.  It'll be crazy for sure - but I can't wait!  Love it!

Rachel signed up for a basketball program through the Rec Dept.  It runs for about a month.  She was pretty excited about it.  She has a few other friends that also signed up.  Well, I got a call today from the Rec Dept saying that they had enough girls for the program, but not a coach.  Wondering if I had any interest or knew of someone else who might be interested.  You guessed it… I volunteered.  No idea what I'm getting myself into, but I'm kind of excited.  And, A LOT nervous! ;)  Figured I can do anything for a month… wish me luck!

In reality, I just didn't want to see the girls not able to play because there wasn't a coach.  I have played basketball, but have never coached anything!  Figured it was worth a try.  We'll start with dribbling and lay-ups and then go from there.  Maybe a play or two and that might be it.  I am looking forward to teaching the girls something and basically allowing them to be involved in a sport they had interest in.  Definitely brings back memories of my 5th and 6th grade basketball days. :)

I also have another mom who is willing to help out.  She said she'd be my "assistant."  I corrected her and said she'd be my "co-coach!"  With my new title I feel much less pressure! ;)

Rachel told me I could use the kids hoop we have in our living room and practice coaching with it!  That made me laugh!  She is so excited though… makes me happy to know she's so happy.  She thanked me several times today for volunteering.  Sweetheart.

Kate was supposed to start preschool yesterday, but she was battling a nasty cold and had a mild fever on Monday, so I kept her home yesterday.  I was so bummed about it.  She's all set for tomorrow and seems pretty excited.  Hoping she has the same attitude about it in the morning!  It's only 2-1/2 hours, but she's been with me all the time!  This is going to be difficult.  But, it's easier knowing she's in great hands and that she'll be meeting so many nice kids.  She is so excited to play with "her friends." <3

Only one I don't have anything special to write about is Nate.  Let's just say he really needs a haircut, but I'm afraid.  I like his longer hair, but it's really getting too long now.  But, not a fan of his hair right after it's cut.  So, we'll put it off some more.
