Santa and Ringing Bells

This evening was full... and so much fun!

Ringing Bells for Salvation Army
First, I picked Rachel and Eli up from school and we went right to the mall to ring bells for the Salvation Army.  We had a lot of fun.  Rachel was so funny and Eli was pretty quite and shy.  Rachel was dancing and walking funny in the entry way.  I was laughing so hard.  She was told she was a very "enthusiastic bell ringer"... no surprise, I know.  She reminds me a lot of a girl I went to grade school with, Ann H., and I love it! : )

So, while we stood there and chatted and people-watched for two hours there are a couple things I wanted to share:

1) A boy looked at the pay phone in the entry way and asked what it was.  His parents said it was a pay phone.  He asked what a pay phone is.  His parents answered with, "it's a phone you put money in to use."  Too funny!

2) I noticed a lot of kids going in to meet with Santa.  There was one little girl, about 1 or 2, in particular that stood out to me.  She had on the cutest little dress and when they walked in you could see there was another aunt or someone they knew there to watch her meet with Santa.  They all seemed so excited and just kept staring at the little girl.  Then I thought... things sure do change (at least for us) when you have four kids.  Eli had on a basketball clinic t-shirt, Rachel's hair was a mess, Kate had on stripes in all different directions and Nate was in comfy pants and his fleece jacket.  It never even crossed my mind to dress them up for the occasion.  Oops! ; )

One thing that's really funny is when we were home this afternoon I was telling Kate that she got to sit on Santa's lap later and she could tell him what she wanted for Christmas.  I told her I'd show her the picture from the last time she sat on Santa's lap.  I went to show her the picture from last year and noticed she was wearing the same exact shirt she had on last year when she saw Santa!!  Good thing I showed her the picture and noticed or that would have been pretty funny for her to have on the same shirt with Santa two years in a row!!  We had to change her for sure!

Here is a short video.  I thought I was being sneaky, but she figured me out.

And, a very blurry picture!

Visiting with Santa
Next, was visiting Santa.  I am so amazed that we got any pictures with them all actually in the picture.  I really didn't think Kate was going to have anything to do with it.  She surprised us, that's for sure.  Love how her hand is on Santa's leg in the first picture.  The second picture is the one we got from them... the best one we got.

So, what did the kids ask for??  Here you go...

Rachel: phone case and Lego house
Eli: Legos and some toy that I'm not familiar with so unfortunately can't remember the name
Kate: shoes and a jump rope (this was what she said she was going to ask for, but she chickened out)
Nate: he wasn't sure ; )

Supper at Backyard Grill
We also planned to go out to eat after all the fun since it was going to be later and I didn't have a plan for supper.  Do I ever have a plan?  Not really!  Anyway, we decided we'd go to Backyard.  We had a gift card, so it was really nice not to even have to pay for it. : )  We hadn't been there in probably at least six months!  Love that place!

Here is a little video we got of Nate there.  He was being so funny!  The kids were all very good.  It very well could have ended in a disaster with it getting late, but they were all good.  Thanks kids!

Jump Rope Routine
Rachel came home from jump rope with this yesterday.  Love it.  It's her routine.  I think it looks so neat hand written like this.  Just had to share!  She's very excited for her first performance.  Still not sure when that will be.  I can't wait to watch them!

I think that's all for now... keep smiling!! : )
