Lady Antebellum

Last week Thursday, on my birthday, Mike and I went to the Lady Antebellum concert in La Crosse.  It was so much fun!!

The concert started at 7:30pm and we had no idea how early to get there.  Our seats were "General Admission" and on the ground.  I felt like we should get there about an hour early to hopefully not be in the back.  We ate at Kate's Pizza Amore, which was right across the street from the La Crosse Center.  They didn't take reservations, so we got there about 4:45pm hoping to beat a rush.  We assumed we'd be there for at least an hour and a half getting us to the Center by about 6:15-6:30pm.

Our hotel was very close to both places, so we headed out for supper as scheduled.  On our way we passed the La Crosse Center and we could already see people waiting inside.  In my mind that meant we for sure would be in the back.  It also made me wonder if when we got there we'd be waiting outside.  We didn't wear jackets, because we didn't want to have to deal with them at the concert, so standing outside for an hour really was not an option.  I thought we'd be heading back to our hotel until concert time after supper.

We continued on our way to Kate's and when we got there were surprised there was no wait at all.  We were seated right away and ordered shortly after.  We each ordered an individual pizza and were done eating by about 5:45pm... which was much quicker than I anticipated.  The food was really good!  It was a really neat place... great atmosphere.  We both finished our pizzas and got a "good job" from the waitress.  It was as if people usually don't finish their pizzas.  They didn't seem that big to me... although I'm about eight months pregnant, so have a good appetite! ; )

We got to the La Crosse Center to find out the line was still inside, so we decided to just wait in line even though it was much earlier than we thought we'd be waiting in line.  It was fun to people-watch as we were in line.  They opened the doors about 6:45pm I think.  As we entered the Center we were surprised at how few people were there.  We were only about five rows of people back from the stage... awesome!  I was so excited!  I was surprised at how slowly the people filled in, but by concert time it was pretty packed.  So happy we got there when we did.

Poor Mike was at least a foot and a half taller than 99.5% of the people there.  I think we counted about three other guys that were as tall as him.  Mike was a trooper though.  I know he felt uncomfortable, but he hung out in front for me.  Our spot was just so good I didn't want to leave it.

The opening bands were Eden's Edge and Josh Kelley.  I did not learn until the following day that Josh Kelley was the brother of Charles Kelley in Lady Antebellum.  We did notice they looked alike, but had no idea.  Mike even mentioned "they could go for brothers."  Funny!

I took some pictures and videos on my phone.  They turned out pretty well.  You can get a good idea of how close we were.  They put on a great show!!!  It was a blast!

I think the concert ended about 10:30pm.  We had a short walk back to our hotel and then right to bed.  We had to get up at 3:45am on Friday, so Mike could get to a case for work in Madison by 7am.  That time came really quick.  We were all ready and out the door by 4:30am.  Got to Madison and I dropped him off at the hospital and then I had some time to kill.  I thought I'd need to keep myself busy until late morning, but ended up being closer to 2:30pm when he got done.  Cases always seem to go later than expected and this was no exception.  So, what'd I do from 7am to 2:30pm to keep myself busy???  I started at Starbucks for at least an hour, then to Target, West Towne Mall, got my eye brows waxed, got a haircut, Panera Bread for another good hour, back to Target and then picked him up.  I stayed fairly close to where he was and was by my phone since I had no idea when he'd be ready.  Things actually fell into place very well.

Next was a drive to Milwaukee for a meeting (which he missed because his case ran late) and dinner with people from his work.  Met for dinner at 6pm.  Had a great dinner at Carnivore in Milwaukee.  Some people went out after, but we were so tired we decided to call it a night after.

No alarm needed for Saturday morning... nice!  Got up, got ready by 10:30am and stopped for breakfast at Cafe Benelux.  Neither of us had been there before.  We basically stumbled upon it... it was so good and a really neat place inside.  We laughed because Mike had a lot of liquid at the table in addition to his breakfast.  He had a water, a bloody mary, a beer chaser and a coffee.  It was pretty funny!  He said it was all pretty good together.  The only thing he couldn't do was eat the veggies out of his bloody mary.  Just didn't go well with coffee!

After that we headed home to get the kids.  My parents had them the entire time... THANK YOU SO MUCH Mom and Dad!
