I told Kate she was going to nap in her big girl bed and she actually seemed to get excited. I let her walk into her room and she went right to her bed. I laid her down and not a peep. I shut the gate at her door and tip-toed away, but just waiting for her to cry or come to the gate and want to get out. Nothing, so I headed downstairs to check out the baby monitor. This is what I saw...
I also took a short video of her just hanging out... could not believe she just sat there!
Much to my surprise she just sat there and didn't cry at all. I thought he'd either cry or go to sleep soon, but that was not the case. She sat there for an hour and a half!! How boring... I actually felt bad for her. Finally, she put her head down and took an hour and 15 minute nap in the big girl bed!
I wanted so badly to get a picture of her actually sleeping in her bed, but could not get the right angle to snap a picture. My ankles crack like crazy too, so very hard for me to sneak in the room to get a picture. Oh well.
She cried when she woke up, but Rachel and I ran up to get her right away. We, of course, were very proud of her and gave fives all around. Big day for Kate!
She was not interested in sleeping in the bed tonight and I didn't want to force it. So, she's in the crib in the baby room still tonight. But, hoping tomorrow her nap will be in her room again. Hopefully, slowly but surely we can make this transition happen. I think it's going to take a lot of luck. Good thing we have a pack n play to use for the baby if the transition is not complete by the time the baby is here. : )
