She's doing well and the teacher says she's fun to have in class. She said she always has an experience or story to tell related to just about everything they talk about... that's my Rachel. The teacher also said she's very good at following directions and instructions. I said that's probably because she's also very good at giving directions and instructions. She knows how much she wants people to follow her direction when given... so she does it for other people. ; ) Was a great meeting and I really do love her teacher... she's great!
Rachel was also so excited for me to stop at the book fair. She had a wish list for me and gave me detailed instructions on how to get to the sale, where the books were, etc. She really put a lot of effort into making sure I had no problems finding the books. She won a $15 gift certificate by drawing a picture of where a book has taken her. She was lucky and won in her class. Since she worked hard on that I figured I should get her the books she wanted. She was so excited when I got home!! She was very polite and thanked me for getting them, too. She sometimes takes things for granted, so it was nice to see her appreciate the books. : )
Just went through Rachel's conference folder a little better and saw this. It almost made me cry. ; )
What I am proud of: My nice writing.
What Mrs. Schmidt is proud of: Me walking nice in the hall.
What my parents will be proud of: That I am nice to other people.
I love her last answer... so good to know she cares about others and that she knows it's something Mike and I feel is important.
Eli's Math Skills
Rachel had piano this evening and as we were driving there I realized I rushed so quick to give the kids baths and supper before we had to leave that I totally forgot to feed myself. As we were driving to piano lessons my stomach was reminding me I didn't eat. I had Rachel's conference right after piano, so decided to stop at McD's while Rachel was at piano. Eli, Kate and I went through the drive-thru and got a 10 piece nuggets. I told Eli he could have three and I'd have the rest. Before I could even challenge him with the question of how many that left for me... I could tell he was already starting to think about it. So, I just let him think and waited patiently for his response. He said, "then you get seven, Mom." I asked him how he came up with it and he said he counted back from 10 to get to seven left. I told him he did subtraction and that Rachel isn't even really learning that yet. I was so proud of him! Good ol' nugget math!!
Also, Eli doing what he does everyday... getting the mail after he gets off the bus. : )
