Last Day of School 2019

Today was the last day of school... yay!!

Let me start by giving a huge thank you to all the kids' teachers!!!  I appreciate them all so much!

Okay, this morning was a little different, because Rachel wasn't home.  She had her 8th grade Camp Out... something Theisen does each year, which I love!  She thinks she got about four hours of sleep. ;)

[Rachel (8th)... was able to get her picture when I dropped off Eli this morning and grabbed her sleepover stuff, so she didn't have it after school.]

Super proud of Rachel for being chosen by students and staff to receive the 2018-2019 Theisen Citizen of the Year Award, which is given each year to an 8th grade student.  Happy to know others notice and recognize how special she truly is.  She is a leader, who respects her peers and teachers.  She genuinely cares about others and is always looking for ways to help.  She is also an excellent student and is constantly striving to do the very best she can in everything she does.  Love the example she sets for others in so many aspects of her life.  VERY PROUD of her!!!!

After school this year was also very different.  Rachel and Eli both went with friends.  And, the saddest part, Kate and Nate CHOSE to take the bus home!  [I will pretend that didn't bother me... as I'm almost in tears.]  So, I sat at home alone and waited for them to get off the bus.  When they got home we went to Culvers.  They were so excited we finally had enough Skoopie Tokens to get a playground ball.  We played four square when we got home... so fun!!

Nate had practice this evening from 6-7pm... it's always hard to know what to do with that time.  Not really enough to run any errands and not really enough time to get anything productive done at home.  So, decided to take Kate's bike along and she rode that while I ran.  We took the trail from where Eli's practice was to the park.  It was about 2 miles away... just perfect!  We went up the lighthouse, saw some friends and chatted with them for a bit and then headed back.  So much better than wasting time doing anything else!  Loved our time together.

Then more time we didn't know what to do with.  Eli's practice went until 8pm.  So, another hour time-slot to fill.  Kate had a great idea!  To bring her softball stuff along, so we could practice on the diamond at Lakeshore after Nate's practice until we had to get Eli.  It was so much fun!!!

[The kids have been asking for Danimals for a VERY long time and I always say "no," because they're never on sale!  They last about a day when I buy, so just don't even bother with them.  I did say "yes" the last time, because they were actually on sale.  They were so excited!!  I said, "This is what you guys get for doing so well in school this year!"  They seemed to be okay with it, so I'm leaving it at that! :)

Now... how long will it take me to clear off the dining room table????  Ha!!
