Now, the last week-ish. Busy and fun!!
Rachel's jump rope team had a show at the Ag Show in FDL last Saturday. It was the first time they performed there and I think it went very well. Was a great opportunity for people in town to watch them. They usually travel out of town for performances, so this was a great idea.
[The Ag Show also meant chicks and cheese samples... something we might just do again.]
[There is a learning curve to making pancakes. She'll get it eventually! ;)]
Last Sunday was all basketball! Rachel's first game was in Sheboygan at 8am. Eli also had a tournament at Lakeland in Sheboygan. Since Mike coaches Eli's team that means I get the little kids. It was an early morning, but they did great. :)
We were able to watch 2 of 3 of Rachel's games and 3 of 4 of Eli's games. Not too bad! Worked out well that the tournaments were only about 20 minutes apart.

[Love that Eli left SportsCenter on the other day. Had it not been on I would have missed Peyton Manning's press conference following his announced retirement. He is a great guy and I loved everything he said.]

[Eli has been meeting friends at the Y lately... love that I can watch him while running.]
[Kate was in the child watch at the Y and they asked who wanted to help with the lemonade stand... Kate raised her hand and was very proud when I found her there.]

[Being home with the kids means lots of basketball... started working on my shot yesterday. That is... with a mini-ball and about a 6 foot rim! ;)]
"Dear Kate, Can I play with you. Yes or no."
She wrote back a big YES.

While watching Eli shoot around at the Y I gave him a suggestion. I told him he should work on a "money shot." I'm not a coach, but I thought it seemed like a good idea. I said he should practice one place A LOT, so whenever he's open in that spot he can make it... or at least most of the time. As I was watching him shoot around I noticed he and his friends were shooting mostly threes and some half court shots. Seemed like a waste to me and I shared my opinion with him. Told him he should be working on more shots that would actually be taken during a game.
Well, this morning I saw this headline.... "Curry's Half Court Shot." It was basically saying how he makes a very high percentage of crazy long shots. Eli is a big fan of Curry. I guess maybe working on those super long shots can be beneficial. Maybe his "money shot" will be from 10 feet outside the three point line? Doubt it, but I guess a boy can dream. I will still, however, encourage him to work on some elbow shots along with the crazy long ones. ;)
Two funny things the kids have said recently that I don't want to forget are.
I was talking about Kate's friend going to urgent care and when Eli was retelling the story to Mike he said "Asian Care"... omg did we laugh! Have a feeling this is one that will be mentioned every time urgent care is mentioned in conversation.
Kate said she wanted to wear her "sleefs" to school. She meant fleece. It was so cute how she said it!
