So, Thursday, Kate was saying she had a tummy ache. She was eating fine and playing just fine. Didn't think too much about it. Then Friday she was saying the same thing, but started to hang low and sit on the couch…which she doesn't do often. That's when I started thinking something was up.
We had a busy day of fun and I was hoping it was something that'd just pass and turn into nothing.
Around lunchtime we had to pick up Rachel from school and take her to another school for a jump rope show. Kate just didn't look good. I decided to put a couple towels and a bucket in the car… just incase. She didn't want me to, but I told her I'd keep it up by me. She was okay with that as long as she couldn't see it. We got to school and were waiting for Rachel and all of a sudden Kate says "bucket." Of course, I had it shoved down by the passenger side, so she wouldn't see it… finally got it out and back to her. Just in time. She used it like a big girl! She was so proud and it didn't seem to affect her too much that she was getting sick. I'm SO HAPPY I brought the bucket… just incase. Whew! Otherwise, it would have been bad.
I was so excited that I told Kate when she felt better we were going to the store to get her a special toy! Cleaning that up would have been terrible… she saved me so much trouble and grossness by using that bucket like a big girl!!!!!! THANK YOU, KATE!
Dumped it out on the grass and then went in the school to rinse and wash it. Rachel saw me and asked what happened. When I told her, her reaction was that she wasn't going in the car! I told her that she had to, because I had to get her to her show. Her and her friend came in the car, put hand sanitizer on and covered their faces with their warm-ups. Poor girls. Got them to their show and they got out quickly.
I was able to arrange for someone else to take them home after the show since I couldn't stay as planned. We also had to cancel two sleepovers, no more gymnastics in the morning and no birthday party. Darn. That's the way it goes sometimes!
Huge thanks to Mary for taking Rachel and Eli for the night. They were happy not to have to be in the house with sick Kate. :)
Keep smiling!
