random update

Just a few updates...

[Kate and I relaxed for about exactly 15 seconds before Nate woke up from his nap.  It was fun while it lasted. :)]

[No, I did not ask Rachel to do that... she just did!  Love!]

This is something the kids brought home from school.  I read through it and pointed out a few things to the kids that I thought were especially important and that they might not know or think about.  The one thing that I'm so glad I touched on was the first bullet under "In Case of Fire."  **Don't hide in closets or under the bed.**  They both thought about it for a second.  I feel like they might have thought about going in one of those places had I not pointed it out.  So, please be sure your kids know fire safety.  They do hear it every year in school, but it's a good thing to remind them about.

[This is the saddest pizza I've ever seen!  The funny part is it's a "three meat pizza."  Mike and I laughed because it has about three pieces of meat on it!  I still liked it though and the kids did, too.  I guess that's what happens when you buy the cheapest frozen pizza! ;)]

Discipling Nate
So, two things to mention as we try to discipline Mr. Nate...

First of all, if we simply say "time-out" his bottom lip sticks out and he immediately starts to cry and will walk to the time-out corner.  We can't even do a one-time threat if he's doing something wrong.  If we say "Do you want to go to time-out?"... lip comes out, crying starts and he walks to time-out.

Secondly, he thinks the word "hot" means he's in trouble.  If I tell him he has to wait to eat his hot dog because it's too hot... his lip comes out and he looks like his feelings are deeply hurt.  Tears flow and all!  It's not a cry because he's impatient or mad he can't eat... it is like he thinks he's in trouble.

I'm figuring him out... at least kind of! :)

Eli - getting deep
Eli came down after being in bed for awhile.  He said, "Mom, is your birthday like a celebration of your life?"  Wow, now that's deep for a 7 year old.  I told him it definitely is. <3
